Roof Maintenance
Like everything else in your home, it is easier and cheaper to maintain
than repair. Here are a few tips to help you increase the life of your
homes roof. |

 |
Check for Discoloration
Look at your roof and see if there are any
streaks or unusual dark areas. If there are, this could be a sign of mold
and mildew growth. Mold can grow during periods of increased humidity and
when your roof doesn't receive much sunlight. To remove the growth, visit
your local home improvement store and by a chemical designed for the job. |

Examine Nearby Trees
Make sure that branches from nearby trees do
not touch your roof. Branches can break during storms and damage your
roof. They can also scratch and damage shingles when blown by the wind.

Fix Missing/Damaged Shingles
Fix roof damage before it gets worse. A cracked or missing roof shingle
will allow moisture to get beneath the other tiles causing more damage.
